Feeding time for the animals of the Harbour Basin aquarium is on Thursdays and Saturdays at 1:30pm. Your journey through the underwater world of the Baltic Sea starts with a view of Stralsund’s harbour basin that gets wider the moment you proceed down the stairs. Meet eels and common rudds on your way.

Littoral Zone

Feeding time for the animals of the Littoral Zone aquarium is on Thursdays at 11:00am.

River Mouth

Feeding time for the animals of the River Mouth is on Tuesdays at 1:30pm. See big sturgeons swim around in their aquarium. Among them is a Russian sturgeon which has been living in the German Marine Museum for 40 years.

Scottish Sea Caves

Feeding time for the animals of the Scottish Sea Caves is on Sundays at 1:30pm.  At the “Scottish Sea Caves” you can watch European spiny lobsters or impressive John Dories – the stars of this aquarium.

Heligoland Tunnel

Feeding time for the animals in the Heligoland Tunnel is on Wednesdays at 1:30pm. Discover the underwater world around Germany’s deep-sea island Heligoland without getting your feet wet. The amazing tunnel aquarium with its characteristic red rocks is inhabited by European pollocks, catsharks and codfish that float above the visitors’ heads.

Deep Sea

Feeding time for the animals of the Deep Sea aquarium is on Tuesdays at 11:00am.

They include lumpfish and wolffish. Here you can also see the “dead man’s fingers” - a common coral in the northern seas on rocky subsoils.

Penguins

daily at 12:00 am.

The ten Humboldt penguins on the roof terrace just next to the Children’s Sea exhibition are one of our visitors’ favourites. Watch them swim and dive in their 120,000-litre pool or waddle on their breeding rocks. Apollonia, Olli, Kalle and their fellow penguins love sprats. Learn why they are an endangered species and if they feel fine in Stralsund from our animal care attendants during the feeding.

Open Atlantic

Feeding time for the animals of the Open Atlantic aquarium is on Mondays and Fridays at 11:00am. OZEANEUM’s “Open Atlantic” tank is the biggest aquarium and the heart of all aquaria in the exhibition. The cylindrical pool has a diameter of 17 metres and is 9 metres deep. See two nurse sharks, a school of mackerels but also various species of rays and sand tiger shark lady Niki splash about in the aquarium.
